Error Message The program encountered a problem at address 004801d9 and cannot continue, click ok to terminate application?
We have found that this issue can be related to a few things.
1.
Uninstall the game and ensure that no files relating to Sega or Sonic R remain on your PC by checking your hard drive using the search option within Windows. This is usually accessed through Start, Search, Files and Folders. Search for files Sega and Sonic R, remove any files that are still remaining on your hard drive.When all files have been removed reinstall the game.

Ensure that you have installed the latest Video Card driver onto your PC and have the latest version of DirectX installed.

You can also try the following to see if this resolves the issue.You need to create a folder on your desktop and copy all the files from the Sonic R CD into the folder and run the game from the New Sonic R folder on your desktop.
Note: You will still need to have the Sonic R CD in the drive to play the game.
Follow these steps.
Click once on your Windows Desktop with right hand mouse button.
Click once with left hand mouse on option New.
Click once with left hand mouse button on option Folder.
A new folder will appear on your desktop.
The name of the folder will be will be highlighted.
Type the words Sonic R and press enter. You now have a new folder on your desktop called Sonic.
Double click with your left hand mouse button on the My computer Icon on your Windows Desktop.
Note: if using Windows XP you may need to click on the Start button then double click with your left hand mouse button on the My computer Icon.
Click once on the CD Rom drive that contains the Sonic R CD with your right hand mouse button.
Click once on the Explore option with your left hand mouse button.
All the files on the CD should no be shown in the Window created on your desktop.
In the tool bar you will see an option called Edit Click this option once with your left hand mouse button.
Click once with the left hand mouse button on the option Select All.
All the folders and files that are displayed on the Sonic R CD will now become grey.
In the tool bar you will see an option called Edit Click this option once with your left hand mouse button.
Click once with the left hand mouse button on the option Copy to Folder.
A list of Files and folders will appear, look for the Sonic R folder you created on your Windows Desktop.
Click once on the folder called Sonic R with the left hand mouse button and then click once on the option called Copy with the left hand mouse button.
You should now see the files and folders being copied from the CD to the Sonic R folder on your desktop.
When the copying is complete return to your Windows Desktop, double click with the left hand mouse button on the Sonic R folder(the files should be displayed that are contained in the folder).
Restart your computer.
When the Computer has restarted and all programs have installed, ensure you have the Sonic R CD in the CD Rom Drive double left click on the Sonic R Symbol ( there are 2 symbols do not click on the file called Sonic R icon ) with your mouse,the game should start to run and display the options Direct Draw or Direct 3D.
