I know I've been secret about this for awhile, and even recieved backlash last year for it, but considering the recent events, I dont see the harm in coming clean. Sega of Japan finally made their response but the situation is bittersweet. To avoid actually posting the entire email, I'll post an excerpt.
"I regret to inform you that we are already in talks with a thrid party for a production of the Sonic feature. We often receive an interesting offer for the Sonic movies whether directly or through Sega of America." Well there you have it. Sega of Japan are in "talks with a third party company" regarding a feature film, but unfortunatly it will not involve me. However, Id love to share the ideas I had for this movie and post the outlines, artwork, and script. If thats the case, ill demote the script to fanfiction and have it freely distributed to Sonic fans. I've already begun the process and all the aforementioned film materials can be viewed here:
http://sonmanic.deviantart.com/ This year, i can vouch that the film was pitched to FOX, Dreamworks, Sony, DiC and Universal who all expressed a high interest in the film but apparently some other company has beaten me to the punch.
The official script for the SONIC MOVIE is now posted for the public eye as well since its now demoted to fan fiction. Its converted to PDF format so youll have to download Acrobat Reader to view. Considering that its a First Draft, spelling and grammatical erorrs are expected. I didnt correct them since it would alter history and the footprint I left in Hollywood. So with great pleasure, I present to you the first installment of the Sonic trilogy that Sega rejected.
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG: SECRET OF THE CHAOS EMERALDS
http://www.rkdezignz.com/sonicmoviescript.pdf So once again, the phrase "third party" rears its ugly head and it does raise more questions. Does this mean a third party company associated with Sega? Are they reffering to 4Kids Entertainment since they were recently involved with Sonic X? Will it be live action, CGI, or 2D? I honestly have no clue but the fact is that a Sonic movie is going to be made. I did remember that DiC was trying to contact them a couple months back so I went ahead and left them a message. This was their reply:
"It's not us .. We'll try and find out who it is." Knowing that Japan has made their intentions clear, it leaves us Sonic fans pondering. Should we jump for joy or recoil in fear? Anyway, when I tried to inquire about the "thrid party" company SEGA responded:
"
Dear Mr. Kuta,
Thank you for your mail.
As we are bound by the confidentiality clause in the agreement, we cannot reveal the name of our partner at this point.
At this point, all we can say is good luck to you for your future projects. We do not think we can discuss your Sonic project any further." In other words, game over for me and the arduous journey that I've travelled in the last 2 years. So I guess, be happy that a Sonic movie is happening? I dont know, Im really depressed =(
Your comments are more than welcome since I wanted to make this film for the fans, and not for the money.
Retenons donc qu'apparemment, Sega Japon nous prépare "quelque chose"...
