Hi there,
Some of you will already know me, but for those who don’t, my name’s Rom. I’m the guy at SEGA Europe responsible for looking after Sonic the Hedgehog online. I’ve trawled the Net for people operating great Sonic-based the websites and naturally yours is one of them – so I’d like to send you a free game!
It’s Sonic’s 15th anniversary this year, so what better way to celebrate than by handing out a few gifts. But what we’re really trying to do is say thanks for all your support, not just this year, but for as long as Sonic’s been around.
I have a copy of Sonic The Hedgehog on Xbox 360 here for you. In fact I even have a small number extra, so please let me know if there are any other folks working on your site who you think deserve a copy as well.
All you need to do is send me your postal address and I’ll get it sent to you straight away.
But that’s not all!
This is also a good opportunity to introduce you to the new Sonic website we’re working on. We’re very nearly finished, in fact. Sonic-City.com is just a holding page at the moment, but will soon be fully live. And while it will launch with a fair haul of new, official Sonic content, we’ll be adding a tonne more during the weeks that follow.
One of the things we’d like to do as part of this is get to know Sonic’s leading fans a bit better - the people that have been running their own Sonic sites for, frankly, much longer than us.
PRESS EXTRANET
The biggest thing on offer to you is privileged access to every piece of media we have available for modern Sonic games. All of this is accessible on our press extranet, which we’d like to open up to you as well as all the journalists out there. The real advantage of the site is that, once you’re signed up, you’ll be automatically notified whenever anything Sonic-related gets uploaded to the site. All I need from you to set it up is:
- Your full name
- The email address that you’d like to use with the account
We’ll do the rest from there and let you know…
FREE GAMES
Secondly, there’s free games. There’s a copy of every new Sonic game in it for you, as and when they’re released. (At least, there’ll be a PAL copy in it for you, what with us being in London – so if you’re in the States and want NTSC copies all we can promise is to do is our very best via our mates at SEGA of America, but no guarantees unfortunately. Unless it’s a PC game of course, and then it doesn’t matter). Not just that, if you’d like another copy or two to give away to your members in competitions, we can do that for you too. And then there’s the bits and pieces of promotional merchandise we produce to support the games, all of it yours (even the people in the States this time!)
Finally there’s, well… me! It doesn’t sound like much, I’m sure, but I’m here to help. Want some support for a cool thing you’re doing on your site? Or maybe you’d like to arrange an interview with someone at SEGA? Whatever it is, if you think I can help with something, I’ll do so where I can.
Oh, and if you haven’t seen it yet, we’ve got a new blog as well –
http://blog.sonic-city.com. We’re inviting all sorts of people to write updates for it, so if you’ve got something interesting to write about, just drop me a line.
That’s all for now. A reminder, reply to this email with:
- Name
- Address
- Preferred email address
And we’ll get freebies delivered and press extranet organised.
Speak to you soon!
Rom

Donc ?
